Scrap book pages .....

This past month I started to take a monthly page
layout class at one of our local scrapbook shops.  For the next twelve months we will be making two pages a month, one of the pages is an interactive page and the other a companion page.

The designer of the pages and album is Karrie Allen, the owner of Scrapp n Savvy in Spring, Texas.  She does amazing layouts and is one very talented lady.

For the pages we are using the Simple Stories Generations paper collection.  These papers are absolutely beautiful.  I just love the
warm brown tones and simple patterns.  I have only done one month so far but will catch up next weekend while on retreat.  The
first layout will be the opening page (not done yet) and then a
double layout for January (not done).  The layouts shown are for
the month of February.  I will post the other layouts next week.

On the interactive page, we made three 12 X 12 tags with a decorative edge, they slip into three pockets that are stitched to keep the tags in their proper place.  The tags can be used for extra photos or as journal boxes.  The stitching on the front adds additional detail to the page.   The border punch is the by EK Success and is called
Flower Burst.  It is a large  border punch and goes so well with the paper.  I think this is my new favorite border punch.

The companion page was very simple.  We
used a large mat with the Flower Burst border punch on one side, centered it on the page, cut a 5 X 7 photo mat, which is also matted, then used pieces of the paper collection cut out, inked and used to embellish the page.  How simple is that?
Of course, we put a row of pearls down one side to give it the added bling.  What an elegant page for any album.

Hope you like the pages we made this month.  We will also be decorating the album so stay tuned for more to come.

Castle wirth Mini Album

I finally finished the castle I've been working on forever.  It will house a mini album eventually but this will be another project for a later date.

I'm very please with the way the castle itself turned out after a lot of mistakes and wasted paper.  Nearly trashed it several times but didn't want to actually admit defeat so just kept plugging away on it.    I have a few embellishments to add but for all practical purposes it is done!

The Castle with mini album was designed by Laura Denison of Following the Paper Trail.  She has some great patterns and kits you can purchase on her website.  Her projects are on Ustream every Wednesday afternoon and Friday evenings.  Such a talented lady.

Enjoy the castle!
